After having withstood numerous challenges over 17 years, the World Catwalk record of 133.7 km was broken by two Sydney students after a marathon fashion event that lasted over 41 hours at the Sydney Town Hall Square. Suresh Joachim, a nine times Guinness record holder and Paul Yan, a Sydney university student in sports science traversed a 16.2 m catwalk over 8364 times to claim this long-standing record at 6.30 am on Saturday. The record attempt was made more difficult by recent Guinness changes that enforced non-stop performance for eight hours before a 15 minute break was permitted.
During the distance of over 3 combined marathons of 135.5km, the Sydney pair also raised awareness and money for the Children’s Cancer institute Australia. |
